<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore in
<br />Resolution No. 95-015 authorize an application for the Texas Narcotics Control
<br />Program, 1995 Grant; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, thereafter, Grant No. DB-95-BOI-08371, entitled Regional
<br />Controlled Substance Apprehension Program, was awarded and accepted on June 12,
<br />1995; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore in
<br />Resolution No. 95-129 authorize an application for the Texas Narcotics Control
<br />Program, 1996 Grant; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, thereafter, Grant No. DB-96-N04-09550, entitled Regional
<br />Controlled Substance Apprehension Program, was awarded and accepted by
<br />Resolution 96-050, on June 10, 1996, for the first four (4) months; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas has issued its
<br />Grant Award, entitled, "Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program,
<br />Grant No. DB-96-N04-09550" for the year beginning June 1, 1996, through May 31,
<br />1997, in the amount of $220,727.00 for the remaining eight (8) months, requiring
<br />local matching funds of $64,507.00 divided between five entities with the City of
<br />Paris' share of matching funds being $12,901.40, for a total project cost of
<br />$285,234.00; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, acceptance of the same must occur within forty-five (45) days
<br />of the date of said award which occurred on September 20, 1996; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris that
<br />the City of Paris accept said Grant Award and continue to suppress drug activity in
<br />and around the City of Paris; NOW, THEREJ<'ORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OJ<'
<br />PARIS, that the Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program Grant No.
<br />DB-96-N04-9550 in the amount of $220,727.00 for eight (8) months, requiring local
<br />matching funds of $64,507.00 divided between five entities with the City of Paris'
<br />share of matching funds being $12,901.40, for a total project cost of $285,234.00,
<br />be, and the same is hereby, accepted.

<br />BE IT J<"URTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager of the City of Paris,
<br />Michael E. Malone, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute on
<br />behalf of the City of Paris, the Grant Acceptance Notice in the form of Exhibit A
<br />attached hereto.
