Item No. 9
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: John Godwin, City Manager
SUBJECT: MAXEY RIFLEMAN GUN CLUB LAKE CROOK LEASE
DATE: October 8, 2018
BACKGROUND: The Maxey Riflemen Gun Club has leased city land on Lake Crook for a
number of years, and the current lease expires at the end of this calendar year. To my knowledge
we have had no substantive issues or concerns with the lease in the past, and representatives of the
club have indicated they wish to renew the lease for an additional five years.
STATUS OF ISSUE: The attached new lease essentially maintains the requirements and
privileges of past leases, with a new five-year lease period of January 1, 2019 through December
31, 2023. The city preserves its right to terminate the agreement for any reason with sixty days
written notice to the club.
BUDGET: This is a no cost lease, so no revenues or expenses will result.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the city manager to execute the attached lease renewal.
