- . . , RESOLUTION NO. 96-085 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore in Resolution No. 96-039, authorize an application to be made to the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark-Tex Council of Governments for the Safe/Drug-Free Schools & Communities Act Grant; and, WHEREAS, the Office of the governor of the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark-Tex Council of Governments has issued its Grant A ward, entitled, "POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE" Grant No. ED-96-JO 1-10 177 for the year beginning September I, 1996, ending August 31, 1997, in the total amount of $30,933.00 requiring matching contribution of $24,408.00; and, WHEREAS, acceptance of the same must occur within thirty (30) days of the date of said award which occurred on July 8, 1996; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris that the City of Paris accept said Grant Award and continue to fund a full time police officer as a coordinator for the Police Athletic League in the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the Safe/Drug-Free Schools & Communities Act Grant in the amount of $30,933.00, requiring matching contribution of $24,408.00, be, and the same is hereby, accepted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager of the City of Paris, Michael E. Malone, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris, the Grant Acceptance Notice in the form of Exhibit A attached hereto.
