1996-057-RES WHEREAS, CITY COUNCIL IN RESOLUTION 88-134 ON DECEMBER 29 1988 PLEDGED ITS COOPERATION

RESOLUTION NO. 96-057 WHEREAS, the City Council did in Resolution 88-134 on December 29, 1988, pledge its cooperation and support for the completion of the "Green Carpet Route"; and, WHEREAS, the City Council did in Resolution 93-081 on August 9, 1993, officially designate U. S. Highway 271 through Paris, Texas, as Green Carpet Route; and, WHEREAS, the City Council did in Resolution 94-145 on November 14, 1994, state that should the City of Paris be requested to pay any cost for right-of-way for this project, it will be considered when the Texas Department of Transportation contacts the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has contacted the City of Paris requesting the city to contribute 10 % of the cost of right-of-way, which includes the adjustment of the utilities involved for the proper development and construction of the State Highway System from Loop 286 in Paris to FM 196 in Pattonville, with the estimated costs for right-of- way and utilities for this project being $6,000.00, making the City of Paris' contribution $600.00; WHEREAS, It IS appropriate for the City of Paris and the Texas Department of Transportation to enter into an Agreement to Contribute Funds in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A, and City Manager, Michael E. Malone should be authorized to execute the same; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL O}' THE CITY OF PARIS, that the form of the Agreement to Contribute between the City of Paris and the Texas Department of Transportation attached hereto as Exhibit A, is hereby approved, and the Mayor of the City of Paris, Eric S. Clifford, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris the said agreement; and, BE IT }'URTHER RESOLVED, that Mattie Cunningham, City Clerk, is hereby directed to timely deliver a certified copy of this Resolution to Robert J. Loven, District ROW Supervisor, Texas Department of Transportation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Finance, Gene Anderson, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to prepare a check in the amount of $600.00 made payable to the Texas Department of Transportation for the City of Paris contribution to this highway project to be transmitted with the executed Agreement to Contribute.
