<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />96-132 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 11th day of <br />November, 1996, pass Resolution No. 96-128, which said Resolution was incorrect and requires <br />correction; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that <br />Resolution No. 96-128 be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows: <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 <br />(Public Law 100-690), the State of Texas will receive federal funds to provide <br />funding for the Texas Narcotics Control Program (TNCP), and the Office of the <br />Governor, Criminal Justice Division, has been designated to administer the <br />program in the form of grants to units of local government; and, <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it to be in the <br />best interests of the citizens of Paris to seek such assistance for the project entitled <br />"Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program," which will focus on anti- <br />drug law enforcement at a total estimated cost of $442,320.00; and, <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, if the application for grant funding is approved, said project <br />is to be funded by 75 % federal funds totaling $331,740.00 and 25 % local matching <br />funds totaling $110,580.00 divided between five entities, with the City of Paris's <br />share of such matching funds being $22,116.00; NOW, THEREI<'ORE, <br /> <br />"BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL 01<' THE CITY 011 <br />PARIS: <br /> <br />"1. That an application be made to the Office of the Governor, Criminal <br />Justice Division, for a Texas Narcotics Control Program (TNCP) grant for the <br />project entitled "Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program," and if <br />such application for grant assistance is approved, the project is to be funded for one <br />(1) year, beginning June 1, 1997, and ending May 31, 1998, by 75 % federal funds <br />totaling $331,740.00 and 25 % local matching funds totaling $110,580.00 divided <br />between five entities, with the City of Paris's share of such matching funds being <br />$22,116.00. <br /> <br />"2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and <br />he is hereby, appointed as the Authorized Official of said project and is authorized <br />and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, the application for grant <br />funding in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto. <br /> <br />"3. That Karl Louis, Chief, Paris Police Department, be, and he is hereby, <br />appointed as Project Director and is hereby authorized to execute and deliver, on <br />behalf of the City of Paris, all reports, communications, assurances, contracts, and <br />documents necessary for the completion of said project. <br />
