<br />RESOLUTION NO. 96-130
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 11th day of
<br />September, 1995, in Resolution No. 95-102, accept the Texas Recreation & Parks Account
<br />Program grant for the Paris Municipal Pool, Project Number 50-00060, through the Texas Parks
<br />& Wildlife Department, which acceptance required the preparation of plans and specifications for
<br />the construction of a municipal swimming pool; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 8th day of April,
<br />1996, in Resolution No. 96-031, approve the plans and specifications prepared by the C. T.
<br />Brannon Corporation, entitled "Paris Aquatic Center: Bathhouse and Pool Complex," Project No.
<br />40-43-98-0950-1996, and authorize the construction project to be advertised for bids to be
<br />received until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 1996, at which time no bids were received; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 10th day of June,
<br />1996, in Resolution No. 96-065, authorize the construction project to be re-advertised for bids to
<br />be received until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 1996, at which time four bids were received, with
<br />all bids being higher than the amount allocated for the project and being subsequently rejected;
<br />and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the construction project was re-advertised for bids to be received until 3:00
<br />p.m., Tuesday, October I, 1996, at which time two bids were received, with both bids being
<br />higher than the amount allocated for the project and being subsequently rejected; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, after having advertised for bids on three occasions--receiving no bids on the
<br />first occasion and receiving bids which were higher than the amount allocated for the project on
<br />the other two occasions--it is deemed appropriate that the "Paris Aquatic Center: Bathhouse and
<br />Pool Complex," Project No. 40-43-98-0950-1996, be executed directly by the City Engineer's
<br />Department of the City of Paris in conformity with detailed plans, specifications, and estimates,
<br />as permitted by Sections 75 and 76 of the Charter of the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the
<br />"Paris Aquatic Center: Bathhouse and Pool Complex," Project No. 40-43-98-0950-1996, be
<br />executed directly by the City Engineer's Department of the City of Paris in conformity with
<br />detailed plans, specifications, and estimates.
