Item No. 13
7
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: John Godwin, City Manager
SUBJECT: TAX SALE
DATE: January 22, 2019
BACKGROUND: Our delinquent tax attorney, Tracy Pounders, continues to work on the
significant number of delinquent properties. Our next public sale is tentatively scheduled for
March, at which time we expect to attempt to re -sell 97 struck -off properties.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Prior to that sale, consistent with the Texas Property Tax Code, we need a
new council resolution authorizing the Sheriff or a Constable to re -sell tax warrant properties that
are not sold at public sale, but bid off to the City of Paris as trustee. This is the same as previous
resolutions submitted for the same purpose, except for having a new list of properties.
BUDGET: NA
