Removing existing paint from the structure should use the gentlest means possible. Consult a <br />preservation specialist for information. <br />• Removing the paint is not economically feasible and building owner wants to repaint, then the paint must be applied <br />only the area where there is evidence of existing paint, and avoiding painting original features. A minor certificate of <br />appropriateness for ordinary repair and maintenance is required for painting. Please consult with the City of Paris <br />Historic Preservation Officer for a list of approved Historic Colors. <br />Fencing in the Historic District. <br />• If original remains repair that which is deteriorated. <br />• Chain link, plywood, vinyl, and concrete are prohibited. <br />• Place fences along established property lines <br />• Gates at the entrances to existing alleys will be mounted in a way not to damage adjacent historic structures. All <br />fencing will be mounted on their own post on established property lines. Attaching fencing to historic buildings is <br />prohibited. <br />• Acceptable materials include heavy-duty black or white fencing vertical pipe or steel tubing fences <br />
