<br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-050 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is involved in the development and <br />construction of the Red River Basin Chloride Control Project as planned and authorized <br />by Congress through Public Laws 89-789, 91-611, and 99-662 with continued federal <br />funding; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a good quality of water is essential to sustain our present and future <br />way of life and economic growth of our communities; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the reclamation of the Red River and its tributaries present a viable <br />solution to meet the future water resource needs and economic development for the entire <br />region of the Red River Basin; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Red River Authority of Texas as the designated Local Cooperating <br />Sponsor for the Chloride Control Project has represented that the project is technically and <br />economically feasible, and proposes no known adverse impacts to the environment or the <br />ecosystems; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that <br />the City of Paris pledges its continued support of the Red River Basin Chloride Control <br />Project which is believed to reclaim the waters of the Red River and its tributaries as a <br />useful natural resource for all beneficial purposes of the people within the four state region <br />of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of Paris, Mattie <br />Cunningham, be, and she is hereby authorized and directed to send a certified copy of this <br />Resolution to Ronald J. Glenn, General Manager, Red River Authority of Texas, 900 8th <br />Street, Suite 520, Wichita Falls, Texas 76301-6894. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this the 8th day of May, 1995. <br /> <br /> <br />Eric .
