REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br />Tuesda s A ri19 2019 <br />4:30 PM <br />Present: <br />Absent: <br />Glee Emmite, Chair <br />Kevin Ashmore <br />John Brazile <br />Shelley McDowell <br />Carolyn Patterson <br />Jane Helberg <br />Laurie Redus <br />Clayton Pilgrim — Council Liaison <br />Becky Semple <br />Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager <br />AGENDA <br />1. Glee Emmite called the meeting to order at 4:38 PM in the Paris City Council Chambers. <br />2. February minutes — Minutes were emailed earlier to all board members and were available on the monitors for <br />viewing. A motion to approve the March 12, 2019 minutes was made by John Brazile, second by Laurie Redus, <br />motion carried. <br />3. Discussion and Possible Action on the following Building Improvement Grant (BIG) requests <br />a. 111 Lamar Ave — new roof, Kari Daniel — Kari Daniel presented information on the complete roof <br />removal and installation. Pictures of the current roof and 2 bids on the project were included in <br />the request. A motion to award a $5,000 Building Improvement Grant to Kari Daniel was made <br />by Laurie Redus, second by John Brazile, motion carried. <br />b. 27 Clarksville - interior remodel, Janet Green — Janet Green presented information on remodeling the <br />interior of the building including heat/AC, electrical and carpentry for removing the drop ceiling <br />in the front of the building to expose the original metal ceiling. Photographs of the current ceiling, <br />original metal ceiling along with contractor bids were included with the request. A motion to <br />award a $5,000 Building Improvement Grant to Janet Green was made by John Brazile, second by <br />Laurie Redus, motion carried. <br />4. Committee Discussions <br />• Economic Vitality — No report in the absence of Kevin Ashmore. Cheri Bedford mentioned that Building <br />Improvement Grants are part of Economic Vitality. Two grants were awarded in the above section of the <br />meeting. It was noted that the tree planting program for downtown as well as the grant for the City to build <br />new sidewalks are indicators of economic vitality in Downtown. Glee Emmite has purchased a building, <br />Janet Green has sold the two buildings she remodeled. Janet Green is pursuing a business to locate in one <br />of her buildings. A lot of work is being done behind the scenes that are not part of official meetings. <br />• Promotions — John Brazile reported that a promotions meeting is scheduled following this meeting. Bedford <br />reported that PDA would like to combine with Main Street to organize and promote events downtown. The <br />Main Street Promotions page on FaceBook will be discontinued with everything being listed on Downtown <br />Paris Texas. This will combine all information into one FaceBook location. Laurie Redus will be given <br />administrator access to the page representing Main Street. Movies in the Park FaceBook page shows that <br />the program is taking the season off this year. <br />• Organization — Laurie Redus reported no new updates, but will schedule a meeting with Cheri Bedford. <br />• Design — Glee Emmite, HPC Liaison, reported that she was given a fagade grant for the back of her building at <br />127 and 129 Lamar. (Glee Emmite recused herself on the business relating to this request.) <br />• PDA — Glee Emmite reported that the combined efforts of PDA and Main Street on the Mini Golf Challenge <br />March 15-16 was a huge success. There will be a PDA meeting 8:15 AM, April 10 at Itsy Bitsy Spider to <br />discuss Cinco de Mayo. <br />• Chamber and V&CC — Becky Semple reported the following upcoming events. The pump track project <br />received a grant to be built near the Love Civic Center, • the Texas Historical Commission will be bringing a <br />quarterly meeting to Paris July 16-20, • Paris Quilt Show May 10-11 at Love Civic Center and along the Quilt Trail <br />along Hwy 82, • Golf Wing motorcycle group May 15-18, • National Cushman Group June 9-14, • Archery group <br />later in April, • Tour de Paris in July. <br />
