A~ and

TECHNICAL PROPOSAL
Malone HU9hes Love Civic
Landsca~~ng Project
Par~s, Texas

Center

The objective of this project is to develop the landsca~e .
around the proposed civic center which will be located ~n the
southeast quadrant of the City of Paris at the intersection
of Jefferson Road and South Collegiate Drive. While the area
is currently under develo~ment, it is in close ~roximity to
Paris High School and Par~s Junior College and ~t is expected
to ,become one of the most visible sites within the city.

The enclosed map will show the proposed landscape design and
list the size, number and species of trees incorporated
within the design.

9ur.landscape.architec~ is ~icensed by the State of Texas and
~s ~ncor~orat~ng a Xer~phyt~c approach to the landscape
design; ~.e., ener9Y and water conservation through
landscaping, and w~ll therefore translate into the site
selection, site preparation, plantin9 of stock, as well as
care of the stock. In addition, it ~s strongly believed that
the Xeriphytic. approach, along with the use of professional
licensed individuals for the design and care of the
landscape, will provide cost effectiveness to the objective
of this project.

The care and maintenance of planted trees will be
administered bf full-time civic center staff. Project plans
include an irr~gation system and back-up in the event the
irrigation system fails.

The project will be let out for bids within the following
areas: tree ~urchases, tree planting, irrigation system
purchase and ~nstallation and landscape architect. six
nurseries have been located within Lamar County for the
purchase and ~lanting of the trees. There is only one Texas
certified irr~gation installation company and one Texas
certified landscape architect in our area. In total, eight
businesses will be contacted and encouraged to participate in
this project.

Project manager:

Curtis Fendley, Chairman
Civic Center Building Project

Landscape Architect:

Janet Callison
Texas Certified

Irrigation System:

Rusty Sharrock, Sharrock Sprinklers
Texas Certified

Michael E.
