<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />93-094 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware of <br />community needs for which local funds have not been and will not <br />be available to accomplish. Such needs are in the area of street <br />paving and drainage; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to develop a viable urban <br />community, including decent housing and a suitable living <br />environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for <br />persons of low/moderate income; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, certain conditions exist which represent a threat <br />to the public health and safety; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funding <br />Texas Department of <br />Community Development <br />Program; and, <br /> <br />for such programs are available through the <br />Housing and Community Affairs for the <br />Fund, under the Texas Community Development <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interest of the <br />City of Paris to apply for funding under the 1993 Texas Community <br />Development Program; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: <br /> <br />1. That a Texas Community Development Program application <br />for the Community Development Fund is hereby authorized to be <br />filed on behalf of the City with the Texas Department of Housing <br />and Community Affairs. <br /> <br />2. That such application address the following activities: <br /> <br />(a) Curb, gutter, street paving improvements: East Garrett <br />Street from 3rd Street N.E. to 5th Street N.E.; East <br />Henderson Street from 3rd Street N.E. to 5th Street <br />N.E.; 5th Street N.E. from Garrett Street to Santa Fe <br />Street; Williams Street from 6th Street N.E. to dead <br />end; 7th Street N.E. from Givens school to Hickory <br />Street; 6th Street N.E. from Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />Drive to Hickory Street. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Drainage <br />pipe in <br />Drive to <br /> <br />Improvements: <br />6th Street N.E. <br />Hickory Street. <br /> <br />Install 48" RCP storm sewer <br />from Martin Luther king, Jr. <br /> <br />3. That the City's application be placed in competition <br />for funding under the Community Development Fund. <br /> <br />4. That the application be for $250,000.00 of grant funds <br />to carry out street curb and gutter, paving and drainage improve- <br />ments. <br /> <br />5. That, Michael E. Malone, City Manager, be, and he is <br />herebv authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of rh~ r.irv of <br />
