REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Present <br />Matthew Coyle <br />Randy Hider <br />Mike Lazar <br />Laura Caffey <br />Glee Emmite <br />Linda Vandiver <br />Linda Knox- Council Liaison <br />Cheri Bedford HPO <br />Absent, <br />Chris Dux <br />Guest <br />Tammy Glaze, President <br />Paris Community Theatre <br />Commissioners Coyle called the meeting to order at 4:13 p.m. <br />Commissioners introduced themselves and recognized the newest member Laura Caffey. <br />The minutes of the June 11, 2019 were approved by acclamation. <br />Commissioners reviewed the Certificate of Appropriateness for the Dr. Pepper Mural- 115 <br />Clarksville PCT Brown Center wall facing 1St SE. Cheri explained to the commission that the <br />Dr. Pepper Mural was more of a partnership with the City of Paris and the Paris Community <br />Theatre and Dr Pepper sees it role as a funding partner. The Dr. Pepper marketing team did <br />some community research and wanted to include details that are important to the community <br />into their mural. They proposed an including Eiffel tower and the verbiage "Raise a Smile" <br />that could tie it into the theme smile that rebuilt the city of Paris in 1916. Tammy Glaze, <br />president of the PCT confirmed the theatre organization was very excited and had given their <br />blessing. Commissioner Coyle questions the maintenance to the mural if there was any <br />pealing. Dr. Pepper will be able to repair the mural as necessary. Commissioner Vandiver <br />made the motion to move forward with the pursuit of the DR. Pepper Mural, seconded by <br />Commissioner Emmite, motion carried. <br />HPO Report & HPC overview- Cheri Bedford <br />Cheri updated the commission and answered questions about all the Minor Certificates of <br />Appropriateness approved in house. The historic preservation ordinance, design <br />standards, and district maps were reviewed. Matt Coyle reminded everyone to think about <br />how the commission represents historic preservation within the community. <br />A slate of officers were nominated: <br />• Chairman Chris Dux: Commissioner Emmite nominated, Commissioner Caffey <br />seconded <br />• Vice Chair Matthew Coyle: Commissioner Coyle nominated, Commissioner Caffey <br />seconded <br />• Randy Hider: Commissioner Vandiver nominated, Commissioner Caffey seconded <br />
