Love Civic Center
Governing Board Minutes
Love Civic Center
May 9, 2019
Present: Curtis Fendley, Helen Ressler, Roderick Martin, Shaneka Scott, Bryan Glass, Troy Scholl, Austin Anthony,
Scott Avery, Steve Smith, Drew Crawford, Chip McEwin and Dr. Pam Anglin.
Staff: Gina Crawford, Paul Allen
Curtis Fendley called the meeting to order at 4:01 pm.
A motion to approve the March 2019 minutes was made by Dr. Pam Anglin, seconded by Roderick Martin. Motion
passed unanimously.
Bryan Glass gave an overview of the April 2019 Financials, these were accepted into the minutes.
Paul Allen gave and stated that he will be meeting with Brad Archer next week to discuss the next step in the Love
Civic Center renovations that passed the May vote. John Godwin stated the funds will be approved in the June
council meeting and money available probably in September or October of 2019. A long-range planning
committee for renovations discussion will consist of Paul Allen, Gina Crawford, Curtis Fendley, Gene Anderson,
John Godwin, Helen Ressler, Scott Avery, Dr. Linda Kapp and Dr. Pam Anglin.
Curtis Fendley stated that most repairs have been put on hold until the long-range planning committee can meet.
Paul Allen stated that he has some concern about LCC events that bring in alcohol and do not use an alcohol
provider. It was discussed, and board agreed that any event must have a TABC licensed alcohol person or they
must provide event insurance with alcohol coverage. This will be taken to Executive Committee and back to LCC
board for final vote. Paul Allen also stated that we need to go up on the pipe and drape charge. We charge $10
for a 10x10 space and other companies are charging $25 to $55. It was discussed to go up to $35 for the 10x10
space. It was also discussed to buy some new pipe and drape to replace some of the old pieces. This will be taken
to Executive Committee as well and brought to the next LCC board for a vote.
The next meeting will be held on July 11, 2019.
Meeting adjourned at 4:20 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gina Crawford
