<br />a <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />RESOLUTI ON NO, <br /> <br />93-011 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris continues <br />to strive to follow the requirements of the Constitution of <br />the Sta te of Texas, the Laws of the State of Texas and the <br />Charter of the City of Paris, and has never knowingly <br />violated any of the same; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Paris News, a newspaper published within <br />the City of Paris, has accused the City Council of violating <br />the Texas Open Meetings Act; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council, in order to proceed with all <br />due caution to prevent the possibility of a violation of the <br />open meetings law, finds that it would be prudent and in the <br />best interest of the members of the City Council that private <br />consultations with its attorneys be suspended until such time <br />as a reasonable agreed statement of the City Council's rights <br />in this area can be agreed upon by the City Council and The <br />Paris News, and that the City Attorney, T, K, Haynes, <br />negotiate the terms of such agreement and report the same to <br />the City Council; NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />that no executive sessions be scheduled or held by the City <br />Council until such time as a reasonable agreed statement of <br />the law governing the same can be agreed to by the City <br />Council and The Paris News, or until such time as this <br />resolution is revoked by resolution of the City Council of <br />the City of Paris. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this 1st day of February, 1993. <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />Ge ge Fisher, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Mattie Cunningham, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br /> <br />/~'""' <br /> <br />\... <br />
