Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 21, 2019 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairwoman Carol <br />James. <br />Present: <br />Board members present were Carol James, Melanie Loughmiller, Ashley Lassiter, Rebecca Umphrey, Marilyn Threadgill <br />and Denise Kornegay. Director Priscilla McAnally was also present. Christina Schock was absent. <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />The minutes of the July 17, 2019 meeting were unanimously approved. <br />New Business: <br />Director reported that the security gates at the library entrance are 18 years old and will no longer be <br />supported by the company. Company is offering updated gates at a 35% discount. Director requested <br />$9,200 from the expendable fund for this expense. <br />Director reported that the wall behind the new deck behind the library needs to be painted. Director <br />requested approximately $1,000 for supplies and labor. <br />Marilyn made a motion to approve spending $10,200 for gates and painting from the expendable fund. <br />Denise, 2°d, motion passed unanimously. <br />• Old Business: <br />Director reported that the "Paris Fire" panel has been restored and is ready for pick up in Dallas. She will <br />pick it up as soon as possible. There is one remaining panel that has yet to be restored. Approximate cost <br />is $7,000, and fundraising is ongoing. <br />• Presentations: <br />• Budget Report was presented for review with no comments. <br />• Statistical Report was presented with no comments. <br />• Friends of the Library: <br />No report <br />• Director's Remarks: <br />Director reported that the deck at the back of the library is underway and should be complete next week. <br />Director noted that the State is requiring all public board meetings to have a public forum item on the agenda, <br />so we will be adding that next month right after the Call to Order. Denise requested that Priscilla check into <br />what procedures the City uses to address public concerns and to format our procedures as closely as possible. <br />It was agreed that a 2 -minute speaking time limit was appropriate. <br />Director reported that she will be starting a book club with City of Paris Parks and Recreation to be held at <br />City Square/Oak Park Methodist. An informational meeting will be on Friday, September 13 at 2:00.
