RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />APPROVING THE CONTINUED RECEIPT OF A STATUTORY SHARE OF <br />BINGO PRIZE FEES COLLECTED ON CHARITABLE BINGO ACTIVITY THAT <br />OCCURS WITHIN THE CITY; AND DIRECTING THAT THE TEXAS LOTTERY <br />COMMISSION SHALL BE PROMPTLY PROVIDED A TRUE AND CORRECT <br />COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION UPON ADOPTION; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, non-profit charitable organizations conducting bingo in Texas collect a <br />5% fee on prizes awarded; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris, Texas is currently entitled to receive a portion of bingo <br />prize fees collected by such organizations within the city; and <br />WHEREAS, House Bill 914 enacted by the 86th Texas Legislature requires the <br />affirmative approval of the City Council to continue the City's eligibility to receive a share of <br />bingo prize fees collected after January 1, 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds that it is in the best interests of the City of <br />Paris and its citizens that the City council approves of the City's continued eligibility to <br />receive a share of collected bingo prize fees: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the City of Paris, Texas shall continue to receive a share of bingo <br />prize fees collected within the City on and after January 1, 2020, and thereafter. <br />Section 2. The City Manager is directed to promptly provide a true and correct copy <br />of this Resolution to the Texas Lottery Commission, to comply with House Bill 914, 86th <br />Texas Legislature. <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this 14th day of October, 2019. <br />Steven J.
