City Council Special Meeting <br />September 30, 2019 <br />Page 2 <br />4. Discuss and act on proposals from executive search firms regarding City Manager <br />recruitment services. <br />Mr. Anderson said the only company not presenting was Ralph Anderson. He introduced <br />representatives from Chris Hartung Consulting and Slavin Management Consultants. Both firms <br />gave presentations and answered questions from City Council. <br />Mayor Clifford said he thought the City Council needed to make a decision as this <br />meeting, and Council Members Portugal and Pilgrim agreed. City Council discussed each firm, <br />noting how they were different, how they were alike, and the needs of Paris. Council Member <br />Pilgrim said all of the firms were good but he favored Baker Tilly and Slavin Management. <br />Council Member Portugal also said she favored Baker Tilly and Slavin Management. Mayor <br />Clifford said he favored those two firms as well. Council Member Knox said she liked both <br />presentations they heard at this meeting but based on the discussions, she also favored Baker <br />Tilly. Council Member Hughes said he thought all of the firms had good presentations, and that <br />his first choice was Slavin Management followed by Baker Tilly. <br />Following additional discussion, a Motion to accept Baker Tilly's proposal for <br />recruitment services, was made by Mayor Clifford and seconded by Council Member Pilgrim. <br />Motion carried, 4 ayes — I nay, with Council Member Hughes casting the dissenting vote. <br />5. Adjournment. <br />There being no further business, a Motion to adjourn was made by Council Member <br />Portugal and was seconded by Council Members Hughes. Motion carried, 5 ayes — 0 nays.
