<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />91-042 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris has a public responsibility <br />to protect the public rights-of-way and easements and to <br />require the telephone company to assume certain duties and <br />responsibilities regarding such easements and rights-of-way <br />by means of reasonable terms and conditions in a franchise <br />ordinance; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a steering committee of cities could share <br />information, develop a model ordinance, obtain special legal <br />and auditing counsel and provide further assistance to the <br />member cities in the adoption of franchise ordinances with <br />the telephone utilty company; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of <br />the City of Paris, that the City participate in the Telephone <br />Franchise Steering Committee; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />that: <br /> <br />Section 1. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />That the participation by the City of <br />Paris in the Telephone Franchise Steering <br />Committee is hereby approved and does not <br />obliga te the City of Par is to any <br />payment. <br /> <br />It is anticipated that a pro-rata fee <br />shall be assessed by the Telephone <br />Franchise Steering Committee at a later <br />date. Such financial obligation shall <br />require the approval of a separate <br />resolution.
