Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday January 07, 2020 at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. <br />Bill Sanders <br />2. <br />Sally Boswell <br />3. <br />Wendell Moore <br />4. <br />Charles Richards <br />The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle and City Engineer <br />Carla Easton. <br />Vice -Chairperson Sally Boswell called the meeting to order at 5:15pm. A quorum <br />was established with four members present. <br />Ms. Boswell then moved to item #2 regarding approval of minutes from October <br />01, 2019 meeting. Mr. Sanders made a motion to approve minutes with second <br />from Mr. Moore. Motion passed 4-0. <br />Ms. Boswell then moved to item #3 regarding discussion and possible action <br />concerning installation of four way stop signs at Church & Sherman. Mr. Tuttle <br />advised this item had been requested by City Engineer. Ms. Easton presented to <br />members that Church Street had recently been resurfaced and completed along <br />with new sidewalks. Ms. Easton told members that the intersection of Church and <br />Sherman does not warrant a four way stop for traffic control but she did <br />recommend that a four way stop sign be placed for pedestrian safety. Ms. Easton <br />continued by saying the Downtown Plan includes new sidewalks on Sherman <br />Street from 3"d NE west to Heritage Park to include sidewalks to link downtown, <br />Wise Field, Heritage Park, and the future Trail de Paris connector. This should <br />increase pedestrian use along Sherman Street. During member discussion Mr. <br />Sanders and Mr. Moore agreed that a four way stop was not warranted for traffic <br />control but after Ms. Easton's presentation understood the need for the four way <br />stop sign for pedestrian safety. Mr. Richards made a motion to place a four way <br />stop sign at Church and Sherman. The motion was second by Mr. Moore. Motion <br />passed 4-0. <br />Ms. Boswell then moved to item #4 regarding any Old Business. Mr. Tuttle <br />informed members that Traffic Commission member Kim McCann had resigned <br />from the Traffic Commission effective today due to her moving from Paris. Mr. <br />Moore asked if any improvements had been made by TXDOT in the curve on <br />20th NE & Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Members were informed that additional <br />signage had been placed in the curve but no edge of payment markers had been <br />
