ORDINANCE NO. 2020-016 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CONTROL MAP ADOPTED IN SECTION 31- <br />65(b) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; <br />ESTABLISHING A STOP SIGN STOPPING EASTBOUND TRAFFIC ON STONE <br />AVENUE AT THE INTERSECTION OF STONE AVENUE AND LEWIS LANE; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO . THE <br />SUBJECT; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A <br />SAVINGS CLAUSE, A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with reviewing and <br />evaluating proposals to add or remove traffic control devices on City streets and roadways <br />throughout the City of Paris; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission has the authority to review the placement of <br />stop signs at various intersections throughout the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting on February 4, 2020, <br />considered and evaluated a request for the placement of a stop sign stopping eastbound <br />traffic at the intersection of Stone Avenue and Lewis Lane due to an increase of traffic <br />created by parent drop-off/pick-up at North Lamar Independent School District; and <br />WHEREAS, The Traffic Commission found and determined that the placement of a <br />stop sign at this location in the City of Paris is necessary to protect the public health and <br />safety and is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in <br />all things approved. <br />Section 2. That the Traffic Control Map of the City of Paris, Texas, as amended and <br />as adopted in Paragraph (b) of Section 31-65, Chapter 31, of the Code of Ordinances of the <br />City of Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, further amended to include the following <br />stop signs: <br />"A stop sign stopping eastbound traffic on Stone Avenue at the intersection of <br />Stone Avenue and Lewis Lane." <br />Section 3. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in conflict <br />with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the <br />
