Item No. 16
memorandum
TO: Mayor & City Council
Grayson Path, City Manager
FROM: Gene Anderson, Finance Director
SUBJECT: COVID-19 DRIVE THROUGH TESTING CENTER
DATE: April 21, 2020
BACKGROUND: Through the efforts of Mayor Clifford, Dr. A.J. Hashmi agreed to oversee a
COVID-19 drive through testing center where citizens could come on a designated day(s) to be
tested. At the City Council meeting of April 9, 2020, I was given direction to move forward with
the purchase COVID-19 test kits from Phamatech Laboratories through their distributor
MDamerica Supply Group.
At that same meeting, City Council indicated that once the test kits were received, they would
provide direction concerning the procedures and processes for a drive through testing center.
STATUS OF ISSUE: After discussion with MDamerica Supply Group, we were able to place an
order for 5,000 test kits at the cost of $ 25.00 per kit. As of this date, we have received 1,500 test
kits.
BUDGET: Funds for this project are in the amended City budget.
RECOMMENDATION: Provide direction to the staff concerning the procedures and processes
of the proposed drive through testing center.
