Item No. 9 <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />Grayson Path, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: ACKNOWLEDGING RESULTS OF PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />AND DECLARING CANDIDATES FOR COUNCIL DISTRICTS <br />1, 3, & 6 ELECTED TO OFFICE <br />DATE: April 30, 2019 <br />BACKGROUND: On January 27, 2020, by resolution number 2020-002, City Council ordered <br />the regular municipal election for the purpose of voters to elect Council Members from Districts <br />1, 2, 3, and 6. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: On February 19, 2020, the City Clerk issued a certificate of unopposed <br />candidates for Districts 1, 3, and 6. On February 24, 2020, by ordinance number 2020-008, City <br />Council declared Council Members for Districts 1, 3, and 6 elected to office. On March 26, <br />2020, by resolution number 2020-012, City Council postponed the election for District 2 from <br />May 2, 2020 to November 3, 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution declaring Renae Stone elected to serve as City <br />Council Member for District 1; declaring Benny Plata elected to serve as City Council Member <br />for District 3; and declaring Clayton Pilgrim to serve as City Council Member for District 6. <br />
