Harris, City Attorney SUBJECT: Ordinance to extend COVID-19 disaster declaration to June 25, 2020 DATE: April 7, 2020 BACKGROUND: On March 19th, Mayor Clifford issued a disaster declaration and order related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Council amended and extended the declaration and order on March 26th. On April 13th, by Ordinance No. 2020-014, Council extended the declaration and prior orders until May 261, STATUS OF ISSUE: The extended declaration of disaster is set to expire on May 26th. It is imperative that the city extend the declaration of disaster throughout the duration of this pandemic because it has implications for the receipt of state and federal disaster -related funding and reimbursements should the city find itself in need of such funding. Since we are having only one meeting this month, council should act on an extension at the May 11th meeting. BUDGET: No impact. RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve an ordinance extending the declaration of disaster for COVID-19 related public health emergency until June 25, 2020.
