<br />RESOLUTION NO. 91-086 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City <br />desirous of reducing <br />fatalities; and, <br /> <br />Council <br />traffic <br /> <br />of the City <br />accidents, <br /> <br />of Paris is <br />injuries and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the National Highway Traffic Safety <br />Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Highway Administration <br />(FHWA) have set aside federal dollars for states and <br />municipalities to reduce DWI and other highway accidents, <br />injuries and fatalities and have identified highway safety <br />programs to alleviate problems on our highways; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public <br />Transportation is receptive to receiving $14,500.00 of <br />federal grant money to be given to the City of Paris to <br />implement a program entitled "Driving While Intoxicated <br />Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP)"; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it would be right and proper to authorize the <br />City Manager of the City of Paris to make grant application <br />for such funds; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />that the City Manager of the City of Paris, Michael E. <br />Malone, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to make <br />application for a grant through the State Department of <br />Highways and Public Transportation for a program entitled <br />"Driving While Intoxicated Selective Traffic Enforcement <br />Program (STEP)". <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this 12th day of August, 1991. <br /> <br />~~/~ <br />orge isher, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />Ma t ti e <br /> <br />FORM: <br /> <br />, City Attorney <br />
