The Senior Detective <br />will be subject to such orders as the Chief of Police or his designee may prescribe, not inconsistent with the laws on <br />the State of Texas or the mandates of the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority grant.The Senior Detective <br />shall devote 100% of his time to official duties, unless granted leave by the Chief of Police or his designee. <br />The Senior Detective's responsibilities shall be: <br />Supervise the Task Force in all of its operations. Keep the proper records and be responsible for the maintenance <br />of all reports to the State of Texas and the Chief of Police. Work with every responsible, legitimate group or agency <br />in a cooperative effort to prevent, investigate and deter motor vehicle theft by educating the public and law <br />enforcement officers in the area of motor vehicle crimes as well as the assistance with any agency in the jurisdiction <br />with auto burglary and auto theft investigations. Investigate all assigned and motor vehicle theft cases and auto <br />burglary cases. This includes insurance fraud cases/ false reports and includes identification of stolen property in <br />which the identification numbers are removed or destroyed. Detectives assigned to the task for will apprehend <br />offenders, develop intelligence information conduct salvage yard inspections, 68A inspections and conduct <br />surveillance when necessary. Enforce all laws relating to the theft of motor vehicles. Assist in the prosecution of all <br />those charged with the crime of motor vehicle theft, fraud and auto burglary or related crimes. Detectives spend <br />approximately 70% of their on criminal investigations, 5% on public awareness and 25% on 68A <br />inspections/investigations. <br />The Detective will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Detective and shall likewise be subject to the <br />supervision of a Lieutenant within the Criminal Investigations Division of the Paris Police Department and within the <br />Department?s Chain of Command up to the Chief of Police. The Detective will be subject to such orders as the <br />Chief of Police or his designee may prescribe, not inconsistent with the laws on the State of Texas or the mandates <br />of the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority grant.
