Item No. 19 Memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council Grayson Path, City Manager FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO FILL EXISTING VACANCIES ON THE BAND COMMISSION, BUILDING & STANDARDS COMMISSION, LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD, AND MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD DATE: July 13, 2020 BACKGROUND: Policies and Procedures for Boards, Commissions, and Committees adopted by City Council require that appointments be made at the second regular City Council meeting in June. STATUS OF ISSUE: Appointments were made on June 22 however; we did not have sufficient applicants to complete the process on that date. City staff was instructed to re -advertise in an effort to recruit additional applicants and have received applications from the following: Band Commission, one vacancy, one applicant (Byron Myrick) Historic Preservation Commission, one vacancy, one applicant (Timothy Alexander) Library Advisory Board, two vacancies, two applicants (Eva Dickey & Lauren Matthews) Main Street Advisory Board, one vacancy, one applicant (John Brazile) Building & Standards Commission, one vacancy, two applicants (Michael Folmar & Carlton Cooper) BUDGET: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Appoint Byron Myrick to the Band Commission; appoint Timothy Alexander to the Historic Preservation Commission; appoint Eva Dickey & Lauren Matthews to the Library Advisory Board; and appoint John Brazile to the Main Street Advisory Board. Using the ballot and point method, appoint either Michael Folmar or Carlton Cooper to fill the vacant position on Building & Standards Commission.
