Item No. 10 TO: Mayor & City Council Grayson Path, City Manager FROM: Doug Harris, Director of Utilities SUBJECT: REPLACEMENT OF PAT MAYSE INTAKE PUMP NO. 1 DATE: August 10, 2020 BACKGROUND: Pat Mayse Lake is the primary source of water for the City of Paris. Transport of untreated water from Pat Mayse Lake to the City of Paris Water Treatment Plant is accomplished by a series of four (4) pumps. STATUS OF ISSUE: Of these four (4) pumps, Pat Mayse Intake Pump No. 1 has failed, requiring replacement. The City examined pricing for both repair of the old pump as well as total replacement, the price difference was insignificant, particularly given the age of the existing failed pump. The City has obtained Texas Buy Board Pricing (Cooperative Purchasing, Local Government Code Section 271.102) from Smith Pump Company, Inc. to purchase and install the failed pump. BUDGET: Cost for replacement with a new pump is $132,820.00. Department 82 — Water Production has sufficient funding in the FY 2019/2020 operating budget to cover the cost without using reserves. OPTIONS: 1. Approve the purchase agreement to purchase and install the Pat Mayse Intake Pump No. 1 and authorize the City Manager to sign. 2. Deny the purchase agreement to purchase and install the Pat Mayse Intake Pump No. 1 and provide direction to City Staff. 3. Request edits to the purchase agreement and/or additional information.
