Notice of Public Hearing For Hazardous Cargo Route Designation The City Council of the City of Paris, Texas will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. The public hearing will be held at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman Street, in Paris, Texas. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive comments and concerns of all affected persons and entities with regard to the designation of a Hazardous Cargo Route. The primary objective of designating a Hazardous Cargo Route is to minimize the potential for incidents and risk of harm to the public, should a truck/vehicle carrying hazardous materials be involved in an incident and the material be released. The designation of a Hazardous Cargo Route will not remove or prohibit all trucks/vehicles carrying hazardous materials from Lamar County roadways. Proposed Route Description: The route designation would require that all vehicles carrying hazardous cargo travel through the City of Paris, Texas, via Loop 286 to their intended point of exit, rather than travel on local streets or state business routes through the center of town.
