HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES <br />MONDAY. July 27.2020 <br />Present <br />Chris Dux, Chairman <br />Matt Coyle, Vice Chair <br />Randy Hider, Secretary <br />Glee Emmite <br />Linda Vandiver <br />Laura Caffey <br />Linda Knox, Council Liaison <br />Cheri Bedford, Historic Preservation Officer <br />1. Chairman Dux called the meeting to order <br />Absent: <br />Timothy Alexander <br />Guests <br />Marvin Gorley <br />Suzy Harper <br />Leslie Flynn <br />Dr. Clay Spencer <br />2. Meeting minutes from July 8, 2020 were approved by acclamation <br />a. Suzy Harper and Marvin Gorley presented the application for Holy Cross <br />Episcopal Day Care located at 322 S. Church Street. Ms. Harper stated this church <br />building houses the Episcopal Day School. On the north facing wall there are <br />currently three windows. In-between two columns is a window and they are <br />proposing replacing this with a door. Currently access to the exterior and <br />playground means children have to walk through a class room. They explained <br />the Fire Marshal has asked them to provide an alternate exit for the school. As <br />much as possible the original materials will be retained including the cast stone <br />edging and rock facade. This door will help meet requirements for the school and <br />City of Paris. It is on a secondary facade. A motion was made by Commissioner <br />Caffey to approve the removal of the window and replace it with a door as <br />presented. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Emmite, Motion Carried. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Hider and seconded by Commissioner Emmite to recuse <br />Chairman Dux while the commission considered the Certificate of Appropriateness and facade <br />grant for 134 1St SW, Spencer Orthodontics. Motion carried. Vice Chairman Coyle presided over <br />the meeting. <br />b. Dr. Spencer presented the Certificate of Appropriateness for the property located <br />at 134 SW 1St Street. A concept drawing was presented to the commission. The <br />facade included two recessed entrances with double doors on either side of the <br />primary facade. The doors and bulkhead will be made of wood, and painted with <br />HC -95 that matches the upper floor development. The windows will be aluminum <br />clad wooden windows. A motion was made by Commissioner Caffey and <br />seconded by Commissioner Emmite to approve the Certificate of appropriateness <br />
