"503.4 Obstruction of Fire Apparatus Access Roads. Fire apparatus access roads shall not be obstructed in any manner, including the parking of vehicles. The minimum widths and clearances established in Section 503.2.1 and any area marked as a fire lane as described in Section 503.3 shall be maintained at all times." Section 505.1, Address identification, shall be amended to read as follows: "505.1 Address Identification. New and existing buildings shall be provided with approved address identification. The address identification shall be legible and placed at the top corner of the building in a position that is visible from the street or road fronting the property. Address identification characters shall contrast with their background. Addresses numbers shall be Arabic numbers or alphabetical letters. Numbers shall not be spelled out. Each character shall be not less than 6 12 inches (192.4 304.8 mm) high with a minimum stroke width of 1/2 inch (12.7 mm). Where required by the fire code official, address numbers shall be provided in additional approved locations to facilitate emergency response. Numerals or addresses shall be posted on a minimum 20 inch (508 mm) by 30 inch (762 mm) background on border. Address identification shall be maintained. "Exception: R-3 Single Family occupancies shall have approved numerals of a minimum 3 Ih inches (88.9 mm) in height and a color contrasting with the background clearly visible and legible from the street fronting the property and rear alleyway where such alleyway exists."
