ORDINANCE NO. 2020--052 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS AMENDING ARTICLE III, "FIRE CODE," SECTION 12-53, "FIRE CODE AMENDEMENTS;" MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in Ordinance 2017-025, the City of Paris adopted the 2015 International Fire Code promulgated by the International Code Council; and WHEREAS, city staff appointed a committee of local builders, developers, engineers, and tradesmen to review said local amendments to help determine which of said amendments as they have been applied in practice are appropriate for the City of Paris and which amendments are not; and WHEREAS, said committee and staff have made recommendations to revise and amend the local amendments to the 2015 International Fire Code; and WHEREAS, the City Fire Marshal hereby recommends that the 2015 International Fire Code is the best uniform building and electrical codes to provide uniform guidelines and regulations for all property, buildings and structures by providing the standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe, sanitary and fit for occupation and use and the condemnation of buildings and structures unfit for human occupancy and use and the demolition of such structures in the City of Paris, Texas, and that it is in the best interest of the health and safety of the citizens of the City of Paris, Texas to revise the local amendments recommended by the committee; and, WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Paris and its citizens to amend the local amendments to the 2015 International Fire Code as set forth below. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved.
