allowed only by permit, shall not be less than 300 feet (91440 mm) from any <br />structure, and provisions shall be made to prevent the fire from spreading to <br />within 300 feet (91440 mm) of any structure. <br />"Exceptions: <br />"1. Fires in approved containers that are not less than 15 feet (4572 <br />mm) from a structure. <br />"2. For recreational fires, the minimum required distance from a <br />structure shall be 25 feet (7620 mm) where the pile size is 3 feet <br />(914 mm) or less in diameter and 2 feet (610 mm) or less in height. <br />"3. For disposal fires, the minimum required distance shall be 150 feet <br />from structures that are under the legal control of the permit <br />holder, provided that such qualifying structures contain no <br />sensitive receptors and have an exterior surface made entirely of <br />noncombustible material. <br />"4. The Fire Code Official may reduce the required distance in <br />circumstances where he deems it safe to do so. This exception does <br />not apply to disposal fires." <br />Section 307.4.1, Bonfires, and Section 307.4.2, Recreational fires, shall be <br />deleted. <br />Section 307.4.3, Portable outdoor fireplaces, shall be amended to read as <br />follows: <br />"307.4.3 Portable outdoor fireplaces. Portable outdoor fireplaces <br />shall be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and shall not <br />be operated within 15 feet (3048 mm) of a structure or combustible material. <br />"Exceptions: <br />"1. Portable outdoor fireplaces used at one- and two-family dwellings. <br />"2. Where buildings, balconies and decks are protected by an approved <br />automatic sprinkler system." <br />Section 307.4, Location, shall be amended to add Sections 307.4.4, Permanent <br />Outdoor Firepit, and 3.07.4.5, Trench Burns, as follows: <br />"307.4.4 Permanent Outdoor Firepit. Permanently installed <br />outdoor firepits for recreational fire purposes shall not be installed within 10 <br />feet of a structure or combustible material. <br />10 <br />
