"5704.2.9.5.1 Overfill prevention. Above -ground tanks <br />storing Class I, II and IIIA liquids inside buildings shall be equipped <br />with a device or other means to prevent overflow into the building <br />including, but not limited to: a float valve; a preset meter on the fill line; <br />a valve actuated by the weight of the tank's contents; a low -head pump <br />that is incapable of producing overflow; or a liquid -tight overflow pipe <br />not less than one pipe size larger than the fill pipe and discharging by <br />gravity back to the outside source of liquid or to an approved location. <br />Tanks containing Class IIIB liquids and connected to fuel -burning <br />equipment shall be provided with a means to prevent overflow into <br />buildings in accordance with Section 5704.2.7.5.8 <br />"5704.2.9.5.2 Fill pipe connections. Fill pipe connections for <br />tanks storing Class I, II, and IIIA liquids and Class IIIB liquids connected <br />to fuel -burning equipment shall be in accordance with Section <br />2704.2.9.7.6. <br />"5704.2.9.5.3 Combustible liquid storage tanks inside of <br />buildings. The maximum aggregate allowable quantity limit shall be <br />3,000 gallons (11 356 L) of Class II or III combustible liquid for storage <br />in protected aboveground tanks complying with Section 5704.2.9.7 <br />when all of the following conditions are met: <br />"1. The entire 3,000 gallon (11356 L) quantity shall be stored in <br />protected above -ground tanks; <br />"2. The 3,000 gallon (11356 L) capacity shall be permitted to be <br />stored in a single tank or multiple smaller tanks; <br />"3. The tanks shall be located in a room protected by an automatic <br />sprinkler system complying with Section 903.3.1.1; and <br />"4. Tanks shall be connected to fuel -burning equipment, including <br />generators, utilizing an approved closed piping system. <br />"The quantity of combustible liquid stored in tanks complying with this <br />section shall not be counted towards the maximum allowable quantity <br />set forth in Table 5003.1.1(1), and such tanks shall not be required to <br />be located in a control area.
