CONTRACTOR shall give <br />F.NGINFER prompt written notice if CONTRACTOR believes that any <br />sagnifiearm changes in the Work or variations from the Contract Documents have <br />been cm=d thereby or are required as a result thereof. If ENGINEER <br />detenadri s that a change in the Contract Documents is required because ofthe <br />action Laken by COMMACTOR in response to such an emergency, a Work <br />Change Directive or Change Order will be issued, <br />6.17 Shop Drawings and Samples <br />A CONTRACTOR shall submit Shop Drawings to ENGINEER for <br />review and approval in accordance with the acceptable schedule of Shop <br />Drawings and Sample submittals. All submittals will be identified as ENGI- <br />NEER may require and inthenumber ofccpies specified in the General Require- <br />merft 11m data shown on the Shop Drawings will be complete with respect to <br />quiantiliez dimeasions. specified performance and design criteria, materials, and <br />similar data to show ENGINEER the services, materials, and equipment <br />CONTRACTOR proposes to provide and to enable ENGINEER to review the <br />information for the limited purposes required by paragraph 6.17.E. <br />B. CONTRACTOR shall also submit Samples to ENGINEER for review <br />and approval in accordance with the acceptable schedule of Shap Drawings and <br />Sample submittals„ Each Sample will be identified clearly as to material. <br />Supplier, pertinent data such as catalog numbers, and the use for which intended <br />and otherwine as ENGINEER may require to enable ENGINEER to review the <br />submittal for the limited purposes required by paragraph 6.17. ENGINEER will timely review and approve Shop Drawings and <br />Samples in accordance with the schedule of Shop Drawings and Sample <br />submidalsancepiableto ENGINEER. ENGINEER's review and approval <br />will be only to determine if the items covered by the submittals will, ager <br />istallabion or incorporation in the Work, conform to the information given <br />in the Contract DocumesiLs and be compatihlc with the design concept of the <br />completed Project as a lunctioningwhole as indicated by the Contract Docu- <br />ments. <br />2. ENGINEER's review and approval will not extend to means, <br />techniques, sequences, or procedures of construction (except where <br />a particular means, method, techruquc, sequence, or procedure of con- <br />struction is specifically and expressly called for by the Contract Documents) <br />or to safety precautions or programs incident thereto. The review and <br />approval of a separate item as such will not indicate approval of the <br />assembly in which the item functions, <br />3. ENGINEER's review and approval of Shop Drawings or <br />Samples shall not relieve CONTRACTOR from responsibility for any <br />variation from the requirements of the Contract. Documents unless <br />CONTRACTrORhas in wrKing called ENGINEER's attention to each such <br />variation at the lime of each submittal as required by paragraph 6.17.1) 3 <br />and ENGINEER has given writlen approval of each such variation by <br />specific written notation thereof incorporated in or accompanying the Shop <br />Drawing or Samplc approval; nor will any approval by ENGINEER relieve <br />CONTRACTOR from responsibility for complying with the requirements <br />ofparagraph 6.17.D.1, <br />R Resubmittal Procedures <br />1. CONTRACTOR shall make corrections required by <br />ENGINEER and shall return the required number of corrected copies of <br />Shop Drawings and submit as required new Samples For review and <br />approval,.
