Paris information is not readily available as it is located in various files and archives. The staff and
commissioners spend hours in researching the property information in preparation for meetings or
for property owners review.
In Phase 2, the project scope is to take all the data, legacy and current, from the original survey in
the 1980's, the incompleted survey of the early 2000's and the current survey and organize it
together into a USER FRIENDLY platform where it will be useful for the city staff, Historic
Commission, building owners and the general public. Having this in a platform has the ability to
save many man hours of research and help property owners make informed decisions in regards to
renovations, reconstruction, restoration or preservation. Paris uses geographic information systems
(GIS) to capture spatial data, which can be updated as changes occur and coordinated with city
maps displaying information regarding utilities, zoning, etc. This survey will be uploaded and have
the capability to document the attributes and conditions of the buildings in downtown Paris in a
digital platform compatible with GIS and, going forward, this Information can be updated as
additional data is collected or changes occur. This will enable the City to continue meeting the
CLG requirement of maintaining an updated inventory of historic buildings and eliminate the need
to completely resurvey every 10 years.
STATUS
During this project, McDoux Preservation LLC, in complete communication with City Staff will
complete the following activities:
Task #1: Establish Requirements for Geodatabase and Public Platform
Task #2: Import Legacy Data into Geodatabase and Develop Public Platform
Task #3: Complete Final Deliverables.
BUDGET
The Professional Services Agreement is for $12,000.
