Item No. 11 <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />Grayson Path, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO FILL ONE VACANT POSITION ON THE <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />DATE: January 11, 2021 <br />BACKGROUND: Policies and Procedures for Boards, Commissions, and Committees adopted <br />by City Council require that appointments be made at the second regular City Council meeting in <br />June. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Randy Hider was appointed to serve on the Historic Preservation <br />Commission on July 2, 2020, and subsequently notified staff that he was resigning from the <br />Commission. As a result of the resignation, there is one vacant position on the commission. <br />City staff has advertised the vacancy through local media and has received two applications. Mr. <br />Tanner Dobrovolsky, resides in the Historic District, is currently serving on the Main Street <br />Advisory Board and has expressed an interest in serving on the Historic Preservation <br />Commission. Mr. Ryan Matthews is a Lamar County resident, recently purchased a historic <br />downtown building and has also expressed an interest in serving on the Historic Preservation <br />Commission. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Appoint one board member to fill the vacant position on the Historic <br />Preservation Commission. <br />
