MEWTES <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br />Tuesday, December 8, 2020 <br />4:30 PM <br />Present: <br />Absent: <br />Tanner Dobrovolsky <br />William Walker <br />Carolyn Patterson <br />Kari Daniel <br />Glee Emmite <br />Paula Portugal, Council Liaison <br />Emily Temple <br />Tyrone Hayden <br />Becky Semple — Chamber representative <br />Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager <br />1. Tanner Dobrovolsky called the meeting to order at 4:38 PM, November 10, 2020, in the City Council chambers. <br />2. Citizens Forum - No one present to speak. <br />3. Review and approve minutes — A motion to approve the November 10, 2020 minutes was made by Tyrone <br />Hayden, second by Glee Emmite, motion carried. <br />4. Board member activity reports - <br />- Emily Temple —1) Paris enjoyed a "reverse" 2020 Christmas parade due to COVID restrictions. It was <br />well received by Paris citizens. The floats parked at various places around downtown including the plaza and <br />Bywaters Park. Observers drove around to see the floats decorated with lights and Christmas scenes. 2) "Merry and <br />Bright" will be the shopping promotion for downtown merchants on the two Thursdays left in December. <br />Participating stores will be open 6-8 PM for holiday shopping. <br />• Glee Emmite —1) The downtown merchant window decorating contest was won by Bee Sweet with the <br />theme of Elf on the Shelf. 2) Buildings in the historic district will receive the Distrix app QR code stickers for the <br />door and counter top. This allows customers to scan the sticker and find information about downtown. 3) Board <br />members and Cheri made 13 Christmas trees from magazines. The trees were advertised on FaceBook and will be <br />sold for $15-25 per tree with 4 already sold. They will be sold at Farmers Market if volunteers are available to man <br />a booth. Proceeds will benefit Main Street activities. 4) Glee commented that sidewalks off the plaza are dark at <br />night and hinders shopping during the evening hours such as during the "Merry and Bright" promotion. <br />• Tyrone Hayden — Main Street t -shirts have not been ordered. The board considered adding a list of <br />events on the back of the shirt. More discussions will follow on the topic. <br />• Tanner Dobrovolsky — Tanner requested to be included in the plant beautification project around the <br />plaza in the spring. <br />5. Updates from Community Partners - <br />- Becky Semple, Tourism Director from the Chamber of Commerce & VCC — The following information <br />and events were presented. 1) The information kiosk at the Eiffel Tower is active. 2) Another information kiosk is <br />being planned for the downtown area. Approval will be needed from the appropriate departments for the project to <br />continue. Emily, Tyrone and Tanner volunteered to be part of a committee to work on the project. 3) The <br />Chamber's weekend get -away tourism promotion was very successful. The contest received 1,700 entries. 4) Red <br />Bull will sponsor a Memorial Day'race at the pump track. There will be 3 qualifier races. <br />
