<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />89-049 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Water Development Board has offered the <br />Sulphur River Basin Authority a $75,000 grant for a planning <br />project to address non-hazardous municipal solid waste, water <br />treatment plant sludge, and wastewater treatment plant sludge <br />disposal problems throughout the Sulphur River Basin, said grant <br />requires matching funds in the amount of $75,000; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, disposal practices affect the quality of water, <br />one of our most treasured assets. Long-term environmentally sound <br />waste disposal plans will guarantee a long-term supply of quality <br />water; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it has been suggested that the local match for the <br />cities and counties be based on each city's or county's <br />percentage of the total population of the Sulphur River Basin, <br />with the City of Paris pro rata share being $7,862.23; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the <br />citizens of Paris that the City of Paris participate by providing <br />its pro rata share of matching funds for said planning project; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />That the $75,000 grant offer from the Texas Water Development <br />Board to the Sulphur River Basin Authority for a planning project <br />which will address non-hazardous municipal solid waste, water <br />treatment plant sludge, and wastewater treatment plant sludge <br />disposal problems throughout the Sulphur River Basin, be, and the <br />same is hereby accepted. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City of Paris does hereby <br />conditionally commit its pro rata share of the local matching <br />funds in the about of $4,862.23, conditioned upon all cities and <br />counties paying their pro rata share, and in the event all cities <br />and counties do not pay their pro rata share, then the City of <br />Paris requests the return of its pro rata contribution. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Director of Finance, W. E. <br />Anderson, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to <br />transmit the City of Paris' share to the Sulphur River Basin <br />Authority, P. O. Box 1618, Mt.
