HPO <br />Absent: <br />Guests: <br />Skipper Steely <br />Jeff Faber <br />Mary Faber <br />Gary Malone <br />David Alarid <br />1. Chairman Dux called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. <br />2. November 11, 2020 meeting minutes were approved by acclamation. <br />3. Discussion and Possible Action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness <br />A. 104 Bonham St, terra cotta repair on parapet wall, First National Bank. Applicant: Mr. <br />David Alarid. <br />Mr Alarid proposed to remove all pieces of terra cotta for repair or replacement and to <br />reinstall back to original configuration. This project is on the roof level and includes <br />all the decorative cast stone pieces, the roof cap, and banding under upper floor <br />windows. Pieces of terra cotta are falling off the property due to water penetration <br />causing loss of architectural pieces and a public hazard. The terra cotta must be <br />repaired to prevent fixrther water penetration, preserve what is left and mitigate a <br />public hazard. Mr Alarid explained it would be inspected, repaired and reinstalled. <br />Commissioner Emmite asked how long the project would take to complete. Mr. Alarid <br />stated he expects the project to take one year. Chairman Dux asked for clarification as <br />to which pieces would be removed. Mr Alarid said all of the terra cotta would be <br />removed including the roof cap, cast stone, and banding under the upper floor <br />windows. Chairman Dux read the Design Standards for Paris Historic District <br />information on terra cotta to clarify the proposal meet the standard. Hearing no further <br />discussion Chairman Dux asked for a motion on the application. Commissioner <br />Vandiver made the motion to approve the removal, repair and re -installation of the <br />terra cotta on the First National Bank building. Motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Emmite, Motion Carried. Chairman Dux requested Mr. Alarid to look <br />into the sealing of the terra cotta once it was completely reinstalled. <br />B. 123 Bonham St, replacement store front. Historic Perkins Building. Applicant: Jeff <br />and Mary Faber. <br />Mr. Faber represented the application. He said when he made the application for a <br />minor certificate of appropriateness for repair he thought he was doing the right thing. <br />He stated that he didn't realize that he was doing a major undertaking.
