<br />RESOLUTION NO. 88~135 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did <br />heretofore in Resolution No. 87-097 authorize an application <br />to be made to the Office of the Governor of the State of <br />Texas, Criminal Justice Division for a Texas Narcotics <br />Control Grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, thereafter Grant No. DB-87-B02-1941, entitled <br />Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension program/l was <br />awarded and accepted on December 11, 1987; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Division of the <br />Governor I s Office has heretofore extended the grant period <br />through April 30, 1989, and is offering to extend the grant <br />period from May 1, 1989, through September 30, 1989, in an <br />effort to put all programs statewide on the same schedule; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the extension of said grant through September <br />30, 1989, requires matching funds in the amount of <br />$2,500.00, one third of which has been committed to by Lamar <br />County and one third of which has been committed to by Red <br />River County, leaving $833.33 to be provided by the City of <br />Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the <br />citizens of Paris that the City of Paris continue to <br />participate in this Regional Controlled Substance <br />Apprehension Program/l to suppress drug activity in and <br />around the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS: <br /> <br />1. That an application be made to the Office of the <br />Governor of the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division <br />for an extension of the Texas Narcotics Control Grant <br />heretofore awarded as Grant No. DB-87-B02-l94l, entitled <br />"Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension program/l to <br />cover the period May 1, 1989, through September 30, 1989, <br />and the attendant required funding in the amount of <br />$70,062.00. <br /> <br />2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City <br />of Paris, shall continue to be the authorized official of <br />said project and is authorized and directed to execute on <br />behalf of the City of Paris the application for grant <br />extension of said grant and necessary attendant funding in <br />the form attached hereto as Exhibit A. <br /> <br />3. That Benny Brothers continue as Temporary Project <br />Director with authority to sign all instruments and <br />documents concerned with said grant for the project director <br />who has been appointed but shall remain nameless for the <br />purpose of confidentiality. <br /> <br />4.
