Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 20, 2021 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order by Chair- <br />woman Melanie Loughmiller at 4:00 p.m. <br />Present: <br />Board members present were Carol James, Jennifer Cullum, Steve Hellman, Melanie <br />Loughmiller, Eva Dickey, Lauren Matthews, Marilyn Threadgill, and Interim Library Director Ron <br />Hervey. <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />The minutes of the December 16th, 2020 meeting were approved. <br />II. New Business: <br />a. Lena McIntyre introduced herself to the board and talked about her duties as a <br />clerk III, including her responsibilities regarding the books for sale. <br />b. Nathan Crawford introduced himself to the board and discussed his duties as a <br />clerk I, including his responsibilities servicing the magazine section. <br />c. Carol James submitted her letter of resignation to the board, as she will be <br />moving to Kentucky. Ron Hervey will call City Council to provide notice of the <br />vacancy seat on the board. Melanie nominated Steve to be Vice -Chair of the <br />board in Carol's absence and the matter would be discussed at February's <br />meeting. <br />III. Old Business: <br />a. Board members discussed the Disaster Response Plan provided by Ron Hervey. <br />After careful review, it was noted that shut-off valves for the building gas, <br />electric, and water valves should be marked on the updated map. Throughout <br />the discussion, the most important immediate needs for the library were <br />updated staff training for how to respond to disasters and health emergencies. <br />IV. Presentations <br />a. Budget Report. <br />Expenditures in December totaled $51,834.68, which is 21% of FY 2020-2021's <br />budget of $727,331.00 <br />b. Statistical Report. <br />
