Paris Public Advisory Board Meeting Minutes February 24, 2021 Opening: The meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order by Vice -Chairman, Steve Hellman. This meeting was initially scheduled for February 17, 2021 but a significant snow storm impacted the local area, causing the meeting to be moved to February 24, 2021. Present: Board members present were: Jennifer Cullum, Eva Dickey, Steve Hellman, Myers Hurt, Marilyn Threadgill, and Interim Library Director Ron Hervey. Board members absent were: Melanie Loughmiller and Lauren Matthews. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of January 20, 2021 were approved. II. New Business: a. Dr. Myers Hurt was announced as the new board member, filling Carol James' vacancy. Dr. Hurt briefly introduced himself, stating that he has lived in Paris for about 18 months and was looking for a way to be involved in the community so he applied for the position when it became vacant and looks forward to serving. b. The board voted on selecting Steve Hellman to serve as Vice -Chair. Eva Dickey made a motion to approve, with Jennifer Cullum providing a second. All board members in attendance voted to approve. c. The board voted on selecting Jennifer Cullum to serve as Secretary. Marilyn Threadgill made the motion to approve, with Dr. Hurt providing a second. All board members in attendance voted to approve. d. Louise Webb came to speak with the board about her position at the library as a Clerk III. Louise has worked at the Paris Public Library for 39 years and currently serves in many capacities, including circulation, reserves, book drop, and also offers advice to patrons regarding book recommendations. Louise noted how much she loves her job and enjoys watching children grow up in the library and then bringing their own children to share the experience. The board members enjoyed Louise's speech and agreed that she is a valuable employee of the library.
