Paris Public Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 24, 2021 <br />Opening: <br />The meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order by Vice -Chairman, <br />Steve Hellman. This meeting was initially scheduled for February 17, 2021 but a significant snow <br />storm impacted the local area, causing the meeting to be moved to February 24, 2021. <br />Present: <br />Board members present were: Jennifer Cullum, Eva Dickey, Steve Hellman, Myers Hurt, Marilyn <br />Threadgill, and Interim Library Director Ron Hervey. Board members absent were: Melanie <br />Loughmiller and Lauren Matthews. <br />Approval of Minutes: The minutes of January 20, 2021 were approved. <br />II. New Business: <br />a. Dr. Myers Hurt was announced as the new board member, filling Carol James' <br />vacancy. Dr. Hurt briefly introduced himself, stating that he has lived in Paris for <br />about 18 months and was looking for a way to be involved in the community so <br />he applied for the position when it became vacant and looks forward to serving. <br />b. The board voted on selecting Steve Hellman to serve as Vice -Chair. Eva Dickey <br />made a motion to approve, with Jennifer Cullum providing a second. All board <br />members in attendance voted to approve. <br />c. The board voted on selecting Jennifer Cullum to serve as Secretary. Marilyn <br />Threadgill made the motion to approve, with Dr. Hurt providing a second. All <br />board members in attendance voted to approve. <br />d. Louise Webb came to speak with the board about her position at the library as a <br />Clerk III. Louise has worked at the Paris Public Library for 39 years and currently <br />serves in many capacities, including circulation, reserves, book drop, and also <br />offers advice to patrons regarding book recommendations. Louise noted how <br />much she loves her job and enjoys watching children grow up in the library and <br />then bringing their own children to share the experience. The board members <br />enjoyed Louise's speech and agreed that she is a valuable employee of the <br />library. <br />
