SPECIAL MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />TUESDAY JANUARY 5,_2021 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Board of Adjustment meeting was called to order by Ruth Ann Alsobrook at 12:12 p, m. <br />The following members were present: Ruth Ann Alsobrook, Jerry Harting, William <br />Sanders, Chris Fitzgerald and Larry Walker. <br />Also present were Roger Colson and Grayson Path. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meeting. (August 4, 2020) <br />Motion was made by Larry Walker, seconded by Chris Fitzgerald to approve minutes for the <br />August 4a', 2020 meeting. Motion carried 4:0. <br />3. Public hearing to consider and take action on the petition of Bailey Asay, on behalf of <br />Steven Asay, on Lot 1, Block A, of Asay Properties Addition CB 253B, being located at <br />2126 E Polk Street. <br />The applicant requests a variance of Section 9-201 Area Regulations of the Zoning <br />Ordinance 1710, which provides as follows: <br />9-201 (1) Schedule minimum lot width -Residential districts <br />2F Zoning requires a minimum of 60' lot width. <br />The applicant is requesting a variance to reduce the required lot width from 60' to 59.8' at 2126 <br />E Polk Street. <br />Board Member William Sanders arrives at 12:15 p.m. <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />Roger Colson, Building Official, presented a variance request to the board. Roger stated that the <br />Planning & Zoning board and City Council approved the lot in December of 2020 for the plat <br />record. Mr. Asay had demolished the previous single family home and now plans to build a duplex <br />on this lot and in order to do so he needs a variance for the width. Lastly, Roger presented a letter <br />of opposition that was sent in by neighbor Bernardo Luna Rangel of 2140 E Polk Street stating <br />concerns that the new home will be too close to his and would decrease the value of his house. <br />Board Member, Ruth Ann Alsobrook, asked if zoning for this lot is appropriate or if it has gone in <br />front of the Planning & Zoning board since this lot does not seem wide enough for a duplex. <br />
