SPECIAL MEETING
MINUTES
CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL
COUNCIL CHAMBERS CONFERENCE ROOM
PARIS TEXAS
TUESDAY MAY 4 2021
12:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
The Board ofAdjustment meeting was called to order by Ruth Ann Alsobrook at 12: 00 p. m.
The following members were present: Ruth Ann Alsobrook, Chris Fitzgerald, Jerry
Haning, William Sanders and Larry Walker.
Also present were Andrew Mack, Stephanie Harris, Grayson Path, City Advisor David
Hamilton and concerned citizens.
2. Approval of minutes from previous meeting. (April 6, 2021)
Motion was made by William Sanders, seconded by Larry Walker to approve minutes for the April
6th, 2021 meeting. Motion carried 5:0.
3. Public hearing to consider and take action on the petition ofAdam Bolton, on Lot 1, Block
A, of Southwest Estates Ph II, being located at 316 SW 4th Street.
The applicant requests a 1.19' width variance to allow a 58.81' wide lot vs. the 60' width required
of Section 9-201 and a 9.02' depth variance to allow a 110.98' deep lot vs. the 120' depth required
of Section 9-301 of the Area Regulations of the Zoning Ordinance.
Andrew Mack, Director of Planning & Community Development, presented the variance request
to the board. After doing so, Director Mack reminded the board of previous discussion on
amending the Ordinance to accommodate sub -standard lots in Paris. Such a amendment would
prevent people from having to apply for lot width and depth variances, as long as other standards
and conditions were met. Lastly, Director Mack stated that City Staff recommend the variances be
approved with no conditions since all of the required setbacks can be met and based on the
recommended findings of fact listed in the staff memo.
Chairperson RuthAnn Alsobrook made note of the input form submitted by Carl Harcrow of 305
SW 4th Street in favor of the variance requests.
Director Mack notified the board of a typo in staff memo under the "staff findings." It references
Sections VIII (E) 14 & 15 of the Subdivision Ordinance when it should reference sections 9-201
and 9-301 of the Area Regulations.
