Item No. 21 <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Grayson Path, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />DATE: June 28, 2021 <br />BACKGROUND: The Board of Adjustment is created by State Law and codified under Section <br />16-100 of the City Zoning Ordinance. This Section states in part: "there is hereby created a <br />Board of Adjustment consisting of five (5) members, each to be appointed by resolution of the <br />City Council for a term of two years." The City Council may appoint two alternate members of <br />the Board of Adjustment who shall serve in the absence of one or more of the regular members <br />when requested to do so by the Mayor or City Manager. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Currently the terms of the two of the regular board members (Ruth Ann <br />Alsobrook & Larry Walker) and one alternate board member (Jathen Donaldson) are expiring on <br />June 30. There is also a vacant alternate position which needs to be filled. We have received <br />applications from the following: Ruth Ann Alsobrook, David Hamilton, and Larry Walker. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution appointing/re-appointing two regular board <br />members and one alternate board member. <br />
