<br />RESOLUTION NO. 87-085 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the late Welma Morphew Aikin, a distinguished <br />citizen of Paris, Lamar County and the State of Texas; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, her interest in and contributions to conserva- <br />tion and beautification is well documented; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Paris Council of Garden Clubs is desirous <br />of honoring Welma Morphew Aikin by establishing a perpetual <br />flowering design which will include 3 to 4 seasonal <br />plantings annually in a planting area approximately 10 <br />square feet near the Southern boundary of Bywaters Park with <br />a plaque in the center stating facts concerning Welma <br />Morphew Aikin; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Paris Council of Garden Clubs is desirous of <br />dedicating said perpetual flowering design at 2:00 O'clock <br />P. M. on October 2, 1987, the same being Welma Morphew <br />Aikin's Birthday; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it would be fitting and proper that October 2, <br />1987, be designated Welma Morphew Aikin Day in the City of <br />Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, That the Paris Council of Garden Clubs is granted <br />permission to dedicate a perpetual flowering design honoring <br />Welma Morphew Aikin near the Southern boundary of Bywaters <br />Park to be perpetually maintained by the Paris Council of <br />Garden Clubs; and, <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That October 2, 1987, is <br />designated Welma Morphew Aikin Day in the City of Paris. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this 10th day of August, 1987. <br /> <br />li~r~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~~~n~y!2~ <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />A?d FORM: <br /> <br />.-----... <br />
