Other Post Employment Benefit (OPEB) Obligations <br />1. Supplemental Death Benefits Fund <br />Plan Description <br />The City also participates in the single -employer defined benefit group -term life insurance plan operated by the <br />Texas Municipal Retirment System (TMRS) known as the Supplemental Death Benefits Fund (SDBF). SDBF <br />covers both active and retiree benefits with no segregation of assets, and therefore doesn't meet the definition of <br />a trust under GASB No. 75 (i.e., no assets are accumulated for OPEB). The City elected, by ordinance, to <br />provide group -term life insurance coverage to both current and retired employees. The City may terminate <br />coverage under and discontinue particiapation in the SDBF by adopting an ordinance before November 1 of any <br />year to be effective the following January 1. <br />50 <br />
