Upon tallying of the <br />scores, Ms. Ellis announced the two applicants receiving the most points were Sandi Kear and <br />Wendell Moore. <br />A Motion to approve the two applicants to the Board was made by Council Member <br />Pankaj and seconded by Council Member Pilgrim. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />38. Discuss and act on ORDINANCE NO. 2021-039: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER, 2 DIVISION <br />2, DIVISION 2, "COMPENSATION," SECTION 2.10.031 "ASSIGNMENT PAY" <br />AND 2.10.34, "SENIORITY PAY," OF CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 2.10 POLICE, OF <br />THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; MAKING <br />OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING <br />A REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Police Chief Rich Salter explained that this Ordinance covered the 2021-2022 Budget <br />that was approved and included Phase -1 of the steps for seniority in rank. He said these changes <br />would create a logical and fair progression for seniority pay with regard to years of serve in each <br />rank. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Pankaj and seconded by <br />Mayor Pro -Tem Hughes. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />39. Discuss and act on ORDINANCE NO. 2021-040: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTIONS 6.02.001 <br />"COMPOSITION" AND 6.02.004, "SENIORITY PAY," OF CHAPTER 6, "FIRE <br />PREVENTION AND PROTECTION," OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE <br />CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED OT THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Fire Chief Thomas McMonigle echoed Chief Salter. He also said that in 2013, the <br />Composition of the Fire Department was listed incorrectly in the Code of Ordinances and this <br />Ordinance would make the change to reflect the actual composition of the Department. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Pankaj and seconded by <br />Mayor Pro -Tem Hughes.
