Item No. 14 TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council Grayson Path, City Manager FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk SUBJECT: SOLID WASTE COLLECTION PERMIT COUNTY WASTE COLLECTIONS, INC. DATE: October 25, 2021 BACKGROUND: Article 12.04 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris regulates the collecting and transporting of solid waste from commercial and industrial units within the City of Paris. Article 12.04 requires that a person or entity must first obtain a solid waste collection permit from the City prior to using the public streets, alleys or thoroughfares within the corporate limits of the City. Solid waste collection permits expire September 30th of each year. STATUS OF ISSUE: County Waste Collections, Inc. has filed an application, submitted the required certificate of liability insurance and is current on street use fees. This company has been doing business in the City for a number of years. Due to illness within their company, they were five days late getting the information to us. Staff was not able to get it on the agenda prior to September 30 so staff is requesting this permit be retroactive. BUDGET: NA. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Ordinance authorizing the issuance of a solid waste collection permit for County Waste Collections, Inc. effective October 1, 2021. This item requires five affirmative votes for passage.
